Our Thanksgiving Cactus bloomed! We learned that it's an indoor plant, not an outdoor one. Big difference! Our blackberry bushes are established and we will have several blackberries. We hope we grab them before the birds too and make a tart or a pie or something... maybe a small jar of jam. Anna doesn't understand yet why they're called blackberries, since they are all green and red. :) She will...
Anna with Ben (doesn't he look like Zach in the back, wow!) sipping nectar from the Jasmine bushes. They're very established this year on the northeast side of our yard. Also, the red amarilis flower we've had since Jonathan was born (my mom's "birth"day present for Jonathan) is still alive... 11 years! Plus, it's mixed with another amarilis that our friend Dina gave us several years ago when she moved out of Parkwood Apartments (where we used to live... we were neighbors), and their hybrid offspring are resulting in some pretty neat patterns! We have 4 stabilized amarilis plants now... one for each child when they move out on their own. :) And little babies growing around them... can't wait to see what they look like next year!

Learning how to hammer next to our recycling bins... Waiting for the Painted Lady Butterflies to emerge from their chrysalids. Notice how the head of the catterpillar is "decapitated" from the larva... our kids thought the other catterpillars had eaten one of them before it had completed it's chrysalid. We learned that this is actually normal and very common and were excited at the end to see 3 butterflies emerge from our bug watcher.

Anna loved watching them speak of their stories... starting when they were 4 or 5 years old... all the hours theiy put in, their families put in... all that dedication... now paying off! Sunday, Anna can still be seen wearing her medal while reading the Sunday paper. She really absorbed everything they were saying, and when she saw the more experienced gymnasts show off theirs stuff, she later said, "I'm going to be able to do that too... because I started when I was 4." Great attitude Anna! 
Cooking in the kitchen... making a gummy bear chocolate (marble on the inside) cake for DAD (see she spelled it in gummy bears!) on Danny's birthday... and making a chocolate/green icing (handmade colors by Gabby) cake for Vanara celebrating his mission call to Oakland, California starting June.

Hanging out with Mark Twain after the Kindergarten round up... she's so excited to start Kindergarten next year... she's super ready and confident in herself and her abilities... she's going to shine!

Yay! I just love reading your blogs! It's so fun to see May so early, I hope you'll update again later on. IT was so fun for you to come on Saturday, thanks so much for helping with the kids while I took the baby.
